But I did, and in time for Christmas too! They aren't perfect, but they are done, so that's what matters, right ?

In Case You Didn't Catch Them on Facebook...
So yeah, I guess that this post is about a month late, and old news, but I felt like I was never going to finish these quilts commisioned by my friend Bethany for her daughter and nephew

Gifts for Baby Milo
I made these for baby Milo Martin, soon to make his appearance. His mama is filling his nursery with birds, so I made him the bird mobile from Spool and I think it turned out really well. I like it so much I might make one for myself!
This little quilt coordinates with Milo's car seat, which happens to be the same style and color as the one that Emmett used. (Nice choice!) I wanted to make something a little less traditional, and was inspired by this quilt by Film in the Fridge. Playing with hexies was so much fun! I used some of the Heather Ross pieces I got off of Etsy for the hexagons and some Kona in Light Gray and some yellow stuff from Hancock...in retrospect I would have paid attention to how I cut and pieced the polka dot hexies, but I was in a major time crunch so I stopped going for perfection and just went for done. I machine quilted it at the very last minute and eyeballed the whole thing. It is amazing that it turned out so cute because I seriously had my doubts.
Blerg
So I have been very busy lately. Lot's of cleaning and organizing, but none of it for me. The result is that I am burned out on all forms of housework but my own house, or at least my three rooms, are in shambles. I am trying not to care because I really don't want to do anything about it right now. Emmett is also not sleeping through the night anymore (thank you bad dreams), so I am tired. VERY tired. So instead of cleaning last night, or working on the sweater for Emmett that is taking FAR to long, I added an ironing board and fabric scraps to the mess and made two of the cutest little girl aprons ever out of some cupcake dish towels from Ikea (I'll get some pictures up soon). It was very cathartic to make something for some of the little ones I love, something I know they will love too. I might even finish Emmett's sweater today....

Finished!
I've finally finished Emmett's Oh Handsome sweater, although it took forever! Not because it was hard, but because I was lazy.
Emmett was a very reluctant model, but I finally got a decent shot of the sweater and him. The color is a little bland, but hey, the yarn was on sale! The sleeve also looks a little Sci-Fi at the shoulder, but I haven't blocked it yet, and I'm crossing my fingers that when/if I ever do block it the sleeve it won't roll like that. Don't let the pictures fool you, he really loves his new sweater and was running all over the house showing it off until crazy mommy whipped out the camera and ruined his fun.
I have also finished a mod/kitschy (what a combo!) reversible apron for my friend Steph's birthday. It's Alexander Henry Owls in green with some Kona Esspresso and some random orange cotton schtuff I had in my stash. The official 'front' is the brown side with green pockets, although I like the back too. I think it turned out really nice, considering I didn't know what the heck I was doing. Hopefully she'll get it just in time for some fall cooking!

So we have done alot this summer...
We have done alot this summer, but alas my wonderful camera died sometime in July, erasing my memory card before I could dump my camera. So I can't show you pictures of my garden, or our trips to Chesapeake Beach, and to the farmers market, sigh, but I can show you some pictures from our trip to Belle Grove, courtesy of my mother-in-law Stacey's camera. Belle Grove is in the Shenandoah, and made for a fun day trip. Stacey had wanted to go for some time so we packed our lunch and headed west. Well, southwest I guess.

What's going on...
I still haven't really figured out how I want this to look, or what I want it to be about, the only thing I know is that I want to use it. Uploading pictures doesn't seem to be working for me today, so here we are with another boring post, but hopefully this weekend I'll make a few post's about what I'm working on.
